Magellan Debuts RoadMate with Free Traffic Service

Magellan RoadMate 1470TI’m not even finished reviewing the Magellan RoadMate 1470 yet, but Mitac’s Magellan has unveiled a new device in the RoadMate series of portable navigation devices, the RoadMate 1475T. In addition to the goodness of the 4.7-inch 1470, the 1475T is equipped with a subscription free, advertiser-supporting digital traffic data service, which includes real-time traffic alerts, incidents, and road congestion reports, as well as AAA points-of-interest data, according to the company.

Like all new models in the Magellan RoadMate series, the Magellan RoadMate 1475T features a touchscreen and Magellan’s OneTouch favorites menu; it also comes with searchable AAA TourBook listings that include AAA Diamond rated restaurants and lodgings, along with attractions, events, and campgrounds. Users can also access listings for AAA-approved garages and businesses that offer AAA member discounts. All listings include the exact GPS location, naturally.

The 1475T includes Navteq maps of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The manufacturer’s suggested price for the Magellan RoadMate 1475T is $299, and is available now, according to Magellan.
