Sweet: Kohjinsha’s GPS-Enabled Tablet Netbook
While netbooks have been out for awhile now, and you can even get the little guys with GPS on-board; the Dell Mini being one example. Tablet netbooks have only just hit the market this year, however, and while it may seem like a no-brainer to someone like me, I haven’t seen any with GPS onboard yet – that is, until today. But apparently you have to head to the other side of the planet to get one.
From Sharp Minds Come GPS Hello Kitty Phones
Sure, the (An)Droid is the newest would-be usurper of iPhone’s hipster throne here in the States — although an Android phone is more likely to appeal to the hardcore geek and/or nerd — but what phone does the discerning Japanese high-school girl going to rock? What are the Shibuya scenesters sporting this winter? I have no idea, but you can bet you’ll be seeing a few Hello Kitty phones around Tokyo early next year — oh yes, GPS-enabled and Hello Kitty.
LG Bringing GPS-Enabled Wine 3G Handset for the Hey-You-Kids-Get-Off-My-Lawn Set
Does it mean I’m old if I like this new LG Wine phone? I admit, I’m partial to a clamshell design, simply because it’s the only type of handset I’ve ever had that lasts more than a for a few months before I manage to bust it — no whiz bang, slim candy-bar smartphone I’ve ever had has lasted more than few months before I manage to bust the screen bending over a table or drop it onto an unforgiving surface whereupon it explodes into a scintillating multitude of silicon, plastic, and machined metal pieces (regular readers know I’m a clutz). But the LG Wine phone … it’s designed for old people. Not that I have anything against old people — some of my best friends are old, and I’ll be there myself sooner or later, if my luck holds — but I’m in no hurry to be one.
GPS-Enabled Android Mobile Internet Device Coming from China? Maybe Two of ‘Em Even
It’s a double-shot of Asian gadget lust today (I suppose the GoGo 3D iPhone app is technically software lust, but we don’t split hairs here at GPS Maniac). There’s been all sorts of online chatter lately among Android fan boys and girls about a mobile Internet device (MID) coming out of China that is based on Android. Its rumored specs are nice — GPS, Wi-Fi, audio and video support, mobile/digital TV support, etc. — but who knows if it’s real, and if so, when it will hit store shelves (and where).
