Spot’s GPS Tracker/Messenger Combo Gets Smaller, More Messaging Options
When you’re playing an MMORPG, it’s nice to have an “oh sh**” button that gets you out of trouble. If you’re a gamer, you know what I mean. For those of you that have a life, it’s a command that you can whip out, calling on some whiz-bang spell or talent to get your character (“toon,” in gamer parlance) out of trouble. I’ve often thought that having a button such as this would be great in real life, for any variety of reasons and situations. Thanks to Globalstar Inc. — the satellite communications people — and its subsidiary, Spot LLC, when you’re in the middle of nowhere, you’ve dislocated your shoulder when you grabbed that sapling to break your fall down the steep side of a mountain but your pack kept on going, now you can have a button to press (assuming it wasn’t in your pack).
Canada’s Cap Tourmente Offers GPS GeoTour

Environment Canada is presenting its annual Spring Festival at the Wildlife Area, organized in partnership with the Association des amis du cap Tourmente, and is adding a new twist this year: the Cap Tourmente Geotour.

I spoke with some Lowrance folk this week about the three forthcoming Endura units, when exactly we users will get a chance to lay hands on them, future plans for the product line, and the brand’s new commitment to the outdoors market.
Easter Bunny Missing, GPS Search Organized
We’ve just received a report that the Easter Bunny became lost in the wilds of Virginia this past weekend while hiding eggs. Witnesses last report seeing the wayward rabbit near Occoneechee State Park on Buggs Island Lake, also known as John H. Kerr Reservoir, Virginia’s largest lake. State parks personnel are organizing a search and rescue party for April 11, arming searchers with GPS units.
